English Language Learner (ELL) Student Support Volunteer

Primary Purpose
As an ELL Student Support volunteer, you will make a positive difference by building relationships and supporting students, with a focus on English Language Learner (ELL) Students. You will work with an EL teacher to support students in a variety of ways, from encouraging social interactions to playing games, to helping students practice their learning.

Tasks May Include 

  • Relationship Building: Building relationships with students is the most important part of your role!

  • Supporting Classroom Activities and Routines: Help the teacher with classroom activities, including preparing and organizing materials, helping students with transitions, and more. 

  • Working with ELL Students to Practice Skills: Engage ELL students in structured activities and/or help students practice skills.

  • Playing Games and Supporting Student Activities: Have fun with students through playing games and engaging in activities with students, with specific attention to ELL students.

  • Encouragement & Motivation: Offer positive reinforcement to help ELL students stay engaged in activities.

  • Social Engagement and Peer Interaction Support: Help facilitate positive student interactions during group work and games between all students, including ELL students.

This role is ideal for:

  • Someone who loves working with kids, especially students with may be English Language Learners.

  • Someone who is looking to gain experience in a classroom setting.

  • Someone who can be flexible and handle the constantly changing nature of a school environment.

Time Commitment: Time commitment varies from at least once a week for 3 months to a more flexible schedule. See specific role for the time commitment requirement.
