Natural Resources - Invasive Phragmites Roadside Surveys

Invasive Phragmites Roadside Surveys
Support the natural resources teams as they cruise through Chisago County, MN to look for populations of invasive phragmites, and document the populations for control. This opportunity takes place on Monday, August 24th through Thursday, August 27th from 8:00am-4:00pm.
Volunteers meet on Monday morning for a 1-2 hour training about roadside monitoring, then split into teams for the surveys. This opportunity takes place mostly in a vehicle, with some roadside standing/walking. Volunteers may be drivers, data recorders, and/or scouts.
Shifts start at 8:00am and end around 4:00pm (there may be flexibility to arrange a half day if needed). Vehicles, waders, and safety vests provided. Volunteers ideally would support all or multiple days if possible, but must at least be present on the first day (August 24th) to receive the training.
What to Bring: Lunch, water bottle, and anything else you need to be comfortable for the day.
Restrooms: Crews can stop at gas stations along the routes as needed.
