Construction - Christ Church Cathedral - Interfaith Build - 785 Harrison Trace

This build takes place at 785 Harrison Trace from 8:30am-3:30pm. The location can often be hidden on maps, but if you head to the end of Eden Ct. and keep driving into the new development you will see the build on the left after the curve.

We will be in phase 1, so we will be working on framing, building walls, siding, and installing doors and windows. We will require all volunteers to wear a hard hat during phase 1 days. We will provide all tools, materials, and safety equipment, however you are more than welcome to bring your own tools/PPE!

Where Can I Park?

Parking can always be a challenge. Make sure while parking to not block driveways, mailboxes, or emergency lanes in your neighborhood. Parking can be found on most side streets. Please make sure your vehicle is securely locked and valuables are stowed away in a safe space.

It’s RAINING?!?! What Now?

If you have concerns about the weather, please call after 7:45 a.m. on the day of your volunteer shift. The temporary weather hotline number for Lexington Habitat for Humanity- (859) 252-2224. Select Extension 3.

Construction staff will decide first thing in the morning for the entire day.

Construction-Friendly Clothing & Gear:

  • Please wear shoes with both closed heels and toes. Protect your feet and wear shoes that are comfortable.
  • Please wear clothes that can get dirty.
  • Please dress appropriately for the weather, keeping in mind that layers can help to keep you comfortable throughout the day.
  • Habitat will provide all necessary personal protection equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, gloves, and eye protection. All volunteers are expected to wear appropriate PPE as instructed by site leaders.
    • Special Considerations for minors: Habitat’s safety policy dictates that no minors under 16 are allowed on the build site. Heat Advisory
As we move into some of the hotter months, we will be taking breaks every hour for water in the shade. We will have tents, water, ice, cooling towels, and shade at the build site. If the heat index raises above 104 degrees, we will end the build for the day. Please remember to drink water the day of AND the day before, and to take breaks whenever you need. If you are getting warm or need a break to sit in your car's A/C please tell one of our site supervisors.

Do I need construction experience to build?

Our construction staff will be on hand to guide you throughout the day. You will be given instructions and all tools will be provided.

Should I pack my lunch?

We will have water at the site, but it's highly encouraged that you bring your own water bottle. Feel free to bring a water bottle to use at our filling stations to stay hydrated throughout the day. There will be a break for lunch, and lunch will be provided by Habitat, a faith partner, or a sponsor!

What happens if I need to cancel?

If you find that you will not be able to fulfill your commitment to this volunteer shift, please notify me by email as soon as possible so we can make plans for construction to continue without interruption. Your volunteer spot matters so if we can fill your place, advanced notice of cancellation is preferred.

Your time and commitment are so appreciated. YOU are a critical piece of the work to build homes, communities, and hope in Lexington!

Thank you so much for your support. We look forward to seeing you on the build site!
