Construction - 761 Harrison Trace Build

This build takes place at 761 Harrison Trace from 8:30am-3:30pm. The location can often be hidden on maps, but if you head to the end of Eden Ct. and keep driving into the new development you will see the build on the left after the curve.

The dates in October and November will be in phase 1, so we will be working on framing, building walls, siding, and installing doors and windows. We will require all volunteers to wear a hard hat during phase 1 days. The dates in January and February will be in Phase 3, so we will be working on painting, trim, baseboard, and interior work on those days. We will provide all tools, materials, and safety equipment, however you are more than welcome to bring your own tools/PPE!

Where Can I Park?

Parking can always be a challenge. Make sure while parking to not block driveways, mailboxes, or emergency lanes in your neighborhood. Parking can be found on most side streets. Please make sure your vehicle is securely locked and valuables are stowed away in a safe space.

It’s RAINING (or snowing)?!?! What Now?

If you have concerns about the weather, please call after 7:45 a.m. on the day of your volunteer shift. The temporary weather hotline number for Lexington Habitat for Humanity- (859) 252-2224. Select Extension 3.

Construction staff will decide first thing in the morning for the entire day.

  • Please wear clothes that can get dirty.
  • Please dress appropriately for the weather, keeping in mind that layers can help to keep you comfortable throughout the day.
  • Habitat will provide all necessary personal protection equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, gloves, and eye protection. All volunteers are expected to wear appropriate PPE as instructed by site leaders.
    • Special Considerations for minors: Habitat’s safety policy dictates that no minors under 16 are allowed on the build site. Safety
Your safety is always our priority, if there is anything you are not comfortable doing, whether it be a job, using a tool, being on a ladder, etc, please let us know. We never want to ask you to do something you do not feel safe doing. We would love to teach you the skills, tools, and equipment and how to operate them safely if you are willing, however we will have a job for everyone regardless. If you ever experience or witness an injury, unsafe practice, or negligence on the build site by a Habitat Staff, volunteer, or subcontractor, please report it either to the Project Manager on site, or you can email jordana@lexhabitat.org with more information. We want to make sure your volunteer day is as safe, comfortable, and fun as possible, and safety is the first step in accomplishing that.

Do I need construction experience to build?

Our construction staff will be on hand to guide you throughout the day. You will be given instructions and all tools will be provided.

Should I pack my lunch?

We will have water at the site, but it's highly encouraged that you bring your own water bottle. Feel free to bring a water bottle to use at our filling stations to stay hydrated throughout the day. There will be a break for lunch, and lunch will not be provided by Habitat.

What happens if I need to cancel?

If you find that you will not be able to fulfill your commitment to this volunteer shift, please notify me by email as soon as possible so we can make plans for construction to continue without interruption. Your volunteer spot matters so if we can fill your place, advanced notice of cancellation is preferred.

Your time and commitment are so appreciated. YOU are a critical piece of the work to build homes, communities, and hope in Lexington!

Thank you so much for your support. We look forward to seeing you on the build site!
