Chase Alive Discovery program

This volunteering program offers a variety of roles including tour guiding and Visitor Centre support. You will have an opportunity to choose the activity you want to become involved in during your applicants from:
- Barrenjoey Lighthouse Guiding roles: As a Barrenjoey Lighthouse Tour Guide, you'll work alongside a dedicated team of volunteers to welcome and guide visitors at the iconic Barrenjoey Lighthouse in Palm Beach. This rewarding role involves sharing the lighthouse's fascinating history, heritage, and significance, while helping visitors enjoy one of Sydney's most spectacular coastal landmarks.
- Chase Alive Tour Guiding and Visitor Centre Support roles: You’ll support visitors at the Kalkari Discovery Centre by providing information about the local environment, wildlife, history, and attractions. You'll help ensure visitors have a safe, enjoyable, and informative experience while exploring the region. You’ll assist with the Muogamarra Nature Reserve Open Season and have opportunities to lead guided walks and tours such sections of the Great North Walk, Hawkesbury to the Harbour and the Muogamarra Nature Reserve.
Kalkari
NPWS Discovery Volunteers undertake a variety of roles aimed at making a visit to a National Park more enjoyable by giving information and assistance, staffing the Kalkari Discovery Centre or leading guided walks within the parks. A minimum of eight hours each month is required, with a range of activities available. Volunteers are trained in the natural environment, history and heritage of our Parks. In August and September the Muogamarra Nature Reserve is open to the public and volunteers are expected to do 3 x eight-hour shifts during this season
Barrenjoey
The Barrenjoey Lighthouse in Palm Beach peninsula is an iconic Sydney sight. Open to the public on Sundays, Discovery Volunteers take guided tours of the lighthouse, explaining the history of the area, the building of the lighthouse and revealing some of the stories behind being a lighthouse keeper in the early days of settlement. Barrenjoey volunteers do a 6-hour shift approximately monthly.
