GSB: NWSA - North Western Sydney Area Volunteer Programs - Ku-ring-gai National Park Tree planting Day 12th March 2026

Participation by invitation only. Volunteers who have been invited by NPWS staff member to register please complete an application.

Join us for a day of tree planting. Planting 800 plants that were grown from seed by Hornsby council nursery using seeds collected from the area. Volunteers will be assisting with planting these plants in a small contained area. All holes have been pre dug, so they will only be required to infill with plant. No other requirements are necessary.

Where: Ku-ring-gai National Park 

 

When:  Thursday 12th March 9:30am finishing at 12:30pm

Getting there: Directed to head to 81 Ku-Ring-Gai Chase road, Mount Colah (address of Mount Colah Depot)   

Parking: Free parking, however, must park in specific designated area noted above. 

  

Things to bring: 

  • Sturdy, enclosed shoes (no thongs/sandals while volunteering) 
  • Work clothes – hat, long sleeves and long pants recommended 
  • Sunscreen 
  • Insect repellent 
  • Raincoat 
  • Food 
  • Drinking water 
  • Water bottle

Please read (Insert copy of approved JSA) document prior to commencing volunteering.     

A safety briefing and site induction will be provided prior to the volunteer activity commencing.   

As part of the volunteer agreement, your responsibilities include: 

  • Participate in a job safety briefing prior to commencing volunteer work 
  • Report any hazards, incidents, injuries or safety/welfare concerns to the volunteer supervisor 
  • Work in a safe and respectable manner, being mindful of other volunteers and park visitors 
  • Take reasonable care to protect the health, safety and wellbeing of yourself and others 
  • Undertake the activity within your ability and in accordance with training and instructions 
  • Use all tools and equipment safely and responsibly, and return them when finished 
  • Ask for help from the supervisor or an experienced volunteer if unsure about anything
