Expectations and Rewards

We ask that our volunteers commit to a minimum of two 4-6 hour shifts. In exchange for playing a critical role in the Wisconsin Film Festival, you are able to see movies, meet filmmakers, and learn how a festival works behind the scenes. Volunteering is also a great way to connect with other community members who share your passion for great movies.

To thank you for your support, the Festival offers each volunteer one ticket for each two hours of volunteer time for those who have pre-committed to at least two 6-hour shifts or three 4-hour shifts. The more shifts you take, the more tickets you can get.

All 2019 Wisconsin Film Festival Volunteers are welcome to attend our closing night wrap party on Thursday, April 11 after the final film is shown.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: What time should I show up for my shift?
A: Please arrive 5 - 10 minutes before the shift is scheduled to begin.

Q: Can I watch the film during my shift?
A: Possibly. There are many tasks that need attention while films are showing, including late seating, ballot counting, and general tidying up. Even if all tasks are complete, watching a film is contingent on available seats and your Venue Lead’s permission.

Q: Can I work only part of my hours for my scheduled shift?
A: Volunteers must stay for the full length of their shift.  If you anticipate issues with staying the entire shift, please pick a different day or time to volunteer.
