Northampton Survival Center

The Northampton Survival Center’s dedicated volunteer community plays an integral role in our 40 year success providing food and other resource referrals to low-income individuals and families. Our Volunteer Program is a strong and growing tradition and could not continue without the contributions and dedication of our volunteers. Each weekday, volunteers help between 25 and 50 families as they select their food, produce and personal care items.

Packing groceries or stocking shelves!

Pantry Cubby

Would you like to be a part of getting food to our clients?  We have two food pantries (Northampton and Goshen) that serve people from all over Hampshire County.  There are a variety of ways to help out in the pantry. Opportunities include:

  • Packing custom boxes of food for clients.
  • Stocking shelves to facilitate the packing of food for clients.
  • Stocking shelves of bread and sweets.

Greet and direct clients during drive-through pantry hours

Do you have a welcoming smile (or smiling eyes)? Would you like to be a part of getting food to our clients while outdoors?  Outdoor opportunities include:

  • Greet clients and direct client traffic.
  • Distribute menus to clients and direct traffic.
  • Distribute custom-packed food by indoor volunteers to clients in their cars.

Stay active, lift, and organize in the warehouse!

Join us in the warehouse of the food pantry.  Opportunities here are varied!

  • Receive and sort donations.
  • Unload van deliveries of food.
  • Sort donations and perform quality control.
  • Clean up and maintain an organized and safe environment.

Get behind the wheel - pick up food or deliver food to clients!

Volunteering as a driver offers a number of opportunities:

  • Drive or accompany the driver around the county delivering custom-packed food to some of our clients. There are delivery opportunities for both pantries - Northampton and Goshen.
  • Drive around and pick up food from the Food Bank or various other locations and deliver to the pantry warehouse.
  • There are opportunities to use the Northampton Survival Center van or your own vehicle.
