About the Role

Do you speak Greek and enjoy connecting with others? Join us as a Greek-Speaking Volunteer Friendly Visitor at Jewish Care Victoria and bring companionship and joy to elderly residents who feel most comfortable conversing in Greek.

As a Volunteer Friendly Visitor, you will have the incredible opportunity to provide social connection and emotional support to residents in aged care facilities. Your visits will make a meaningful impact on their well-being and quality of life, helping them feel valued and connected to their culture and community.

Responsibilities

• Spending quality time with elderly residents through engaging conversations in Greek and shared activities.
• Playing board games, going for walks, doing crafts, walking, reading books, newspapers, or magazines together.
• Offering a compassionate and empathetic presence, providing emotional support.
• Creating a positive and enjoyable environment for our residents.

Working Hours

One-two hours per week.

Qualifications/Skills Required

• Fluency in Greek.
• A warm and compassionate personality.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• A willingness to engage with elderly residents and build meaningful connections.
• An understanding and appreciation for the value of companionship in elderly care.
