COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT - STUDENT VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITIES

Are you studying and looking for volunteer community engagement opportunities in the Brisbane area?

St John has opportunities available in the following areas:

Visiting - you will be placed in a local Residential Aged Care facility to provide one to one or group connections with residents, offering conversation, laughter, friendship.  You may be expected to play games, puzzles and support craft activities.

Days, times:   Monday - Sunday (times flexible)
Shift requirement  min 1 hour per fortnight
Location:   Brisbane only

 

Buddy - Accompanied Activities - you will be placed along side a St John support worker to provide assistance and support in taking members of our older community out on activities such as grocery shopping, medical appointments and social outings.

Days:  Monday - Friday
Shifts:  between 8am - 4pm  (half days may be arranged)
Location:  Geebung - departing Brisbane Head Office

 

Social Trip Support - working within a small team of Support workers you will be providing support to assist people in our older community to attend social outings such as luncheons, museums, popular attractions or local exhibitions etc.  Entry to attractions is including in the volunteering.

Days:  Monday - Friday
Shifts:  trips vary in length but are often between the hours of 8am - 4pm
Location:  Geebung - departing Brisbane Head Office

 

PLEASE NOTE:
* Number of placements are limited
* St John Qld is an approved engagement partner with the Australian Catholic University in Banyo.
* All student volunteers must be over 18 and must have their COVID vaccinations.
