Community Volunteering

🌟 IMPROVING SOCIAL CONNECTIONS - VOLUNTEER WITH US! 🌟

Do you enjoy a chat over a cup of tea or coffee? Love playing games like Scrabble or chess? Want to make a real difference in someone’s life?

St John Ambulance QLD is taking a fresh approach to tackling isolation among older members of our community — and we need YOU to help!

We’re building a hands-on, diverse team of volunteers who are passionate about connection, laughter, and simply being there for someone who needs a friend. Many older people in our community experience loneliness — a friendly face, a listening ear, and a little company can make all the difference.

Opportunities Available:
✅Community Visiting: Spend 1 hour every fortnight visiting an elderly resident at a local aged care facility. Enjoy conversation, puzzles, crafts, music, or simply share a few laughs together.
✅Friendship Calls: Commit just 30 minutes a week to make a phone call that brightens someone’s day.
✅Security Calls: Provide peace of mind with a quick 5-minute check-in each day.
✅Multilingual Volunteers: If you speak another language, your skills are especially valuable to help connect with diverse members of our community.

Whether you’re a student looking for community engagement experience in Brisbane, a retiree, or simply someone with a big heart — your time can make a huge impact. And with flexible commitment starting from as little as 1 hour a fortnight, it’s easy to get involved!

All you need is a warm smile, a listening ear, and a passion for making a difference.
Together, let’s bring connection and joy to those who need it most.

Commitment required:  1 hour weekly or fortnightly
Days: Monday to Friday
