7. ENNIS - Crayfish Feasibility study on the Lyn

Undertake regular  surveys for invasive crayfish.  You will be accessing rivers carrying out hand searches of the river bed and setting artificial refuge traps   For health and safety reasons you will be working in teams of 2+. Full training will be given and you need to be able to commit to a couple of Wednesday in-field coaching sessions but you can choose which day you survey once trained. Survey sites are 250 – 500m long requiring 10 – 20 traps and will require up to four survey visits taking around half a day at 1 – 2 week intervals. You can choose how many sites you want to survey but we ask people taking part to sign up for regular sessions throughout the season (May to Oct) if possible.  You need to be reasonably fit and able to walk over rough ground and in rivers. Waders and all other equipment will be provided. Please provide your shoe size when signing up.
