Family Meals of Hope - South Route - Server (Meal Distribution for Mobile Canteen)

Role Summary:
Servers are compassionate volunteers who help distribute meals directly from The Salvation Army mobile canteen (TSA truck) to individuals and families in need. This hands-on role provides nourishment and dignity to our neighbors through friendly, respectful service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Meet at the Emergency Disaster Services (EDS) building, located at 10629 Burt Cir., Omaha, NE
  • Ride in the TSA food truck with the full crew (Driver and Jump) to two scheduled park locations
  • Assist with canteen preparation and food loading before departure
  • At each stop, assemble and serve meals to individuals lined up at the truck in a respectful and efficient manner
  • Ensure safe food handling and cleanliness of the serving area
  • Support crowd flow and help create a welcoming atmosphere
  • Assist with clean-up and restocking after returning to the EDS building at the end of the shift

Requirements:

  • Must be 16 years of age or older
  • Friendly and respectful toward all guests
  • Able to stand for 1–2 hours and serve outdoors in varying weather
  • Willingness to work as part of a close-knit team
  • Basic food handling knowledge is helpful (training provided)
