Family Meals of Hope - North Route - Jump (Ride-Along Assistant for Mobile Canteen)

Role Summary:
Jumps are essential ride-along assistants who support the Driver and Server team in operating The Salvation Army mobile canteen (TSA truck). This role helps ensure smooth meal distribution, crowd engagement, and overall support during the food service route.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Meet at the Emergency Disaster Services (EDS) building, located at 10629 Burt Cir., Omaha, NE
  • Ride along in the TSA food truck, stopping at two predetermined park locations
  • Assist with loading the canteen, and setup before departure
  • At each stop, work alongside the Driver to engage guests, organize lines, and maintain a welcoming environment
  • Support the two Servers with smooth operations at the meal distribution site
  • Help with cleanup and restocking after the final stop, and return to the EDS building with the team

Requirements:

  • Must complete The Salvation Army’s standard volunteer vetting, including:
    • Background check
    • References
    • Safe From Harm online training
  • Must be 16 years of age or older
  • Friendly, compassionate, and reliable
  • Able to lift 10–20 lbs and work outdoors in variable weather
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

Qualifications Required

  • Background Check
  • Safe From Harm Training Must be at least Lvl 2 - General Safe From Harm Class
