Retail Volunteer
Volunteering in one of our shops is a great way to become more involved in your local community, meet new people, and learn new skills. If that is something that appeals to you, then we would love for you to join our friendly volunteering team at St. Joseph’s Hospice.
While volunteering in our shops, you will:
- Serve customers, take payments, and provide good all-round customer service
- Sort donated items and price up stock
- Keep our shops looking great with excellent visual merchandising
- Keep the shops tidy, clean, and well organised
We currently have three charity shops, and a Bookshop, located at:
- 379 Mare Street, E8 1HY
- 77 Mare Street, E8 4RG
- 200 Well Street, E9 6QT
You do not need to have worked in a retail environment - or as a volunteer - before, as we offer full training. It is much more important to us that you are friendly, reliable, and able to commit to at least a shift or two.
To volunteer in one of our charity shops you must be 17+, and able to supply the details of two referees.
In return, we offer you:
- A warm welcome from St. Joseph’s Volunteers and Staff
- The opportunity for you to gain transferable skills and experience in the retail and charity sector
- Skills and training to enhance your CV
- The space to build your confidence
- Something that you enjoy and believe in, and that adds value to your community
- Your expenses reimbursed for travel within TFL Zones 1-6, and a meal allowance up to the value of £5 when you volunteer for 3 hours or more per day in our shops
