Garden Assistant
St Joseph’s Hospice award-winning gardens have been providing a space for recreation, relaxation and contemplation to patients, staff and visitors for over 100 years.
The gardens include a variety of separate spaces with year round interest created by annual bedding schemes, traditional perennials and half-hardy tropicals in the borders. Gardening at St Joseph’s Hospice has many aspects: from the therapeutic value, to the nitty gritty of recycling and managing a formal garden whilst keeping wildlife in mind.
We are currently seeking a garden assistant, for 3-6 hours weekly voluntary work on Mondays and/or Fridays. Thursdays may also be an option.
The role would include, assisting with the presentation of the garden, weeding flower beds, sweeping and tidying paths, assisting with composting. Providing conversation (when needed) with patients.
If you are an experienced gardener, preferably with a level 2 qualification in horticulture. Physically fit and able to climb ladders and move heavy weights, we’d love to hear from you.
