Compassionate Neighbours Volunteer
Compassionate Neighbours is a free community-led support for anyone living with or caring for a person with a serious, long-term, or terminal illness.
People living with a serious, long-term, or terminal illness often struggle with loneliness and could do with some extra support. Compassionate Neighbours is a network of trained volunteers who are willing to offer their time, companionship, and support to people living in their community who are coping with serious illness.
Training dates in 2024:
- 16th & 18th April
- 22nd & 29th June
- 11th & 13th September
- 9th & 16th November
Compassionate Neighbours can help others by:
- Offering companionship, emotional support, and a listening ear
- Providing practical support, such as making a cup of tea
- Helping them to stay connected to their friends and the community
- Directing them to important support services to help them get through this difficult time
This role requires you to be:
- 18+
- Able to supply the details of two referees
- Willing to apply for an Enhanced Adult DBS certificate with St. Joseph’s Hospice (unless you are subscribed to the Update Service)
- Able to attend two days Compassionate Neighbours training.
