What we need:

- Individuals who are self-starters and able to work professionally in a team setting, as well as in a group setting
- Individuals who are detailed oriented, organized, and great communicators
What you may do:
The Recreation Intern assists with the organization and implementation of learning experiences for outdoor recreation programs as well as assisting with WOW Outdoor Recreation Schools across the state of Missouri. This includes assisting in the development of programs, evaluation of current programs, recruiting instructors/volunteers, organizing and inventorying equipment, teaching classes, and marketing. This internship will require the completion of an individual project related to outdoor recreation.
Essential functions:
- Assist in special events/programs and develop specific educational materials and activities that relate to the event
- Deliver immersive educational programs and experiences for the Johnny Morris Foundation Conservation Attraction Properties
- Conduct interpretive workshops at the annual WOW Outdoor Recreation and Conservation Schools
- Conduct age-appropriate outdoor recreation presentations, both on-site and off-site
- Assist in oversight, planning, and implementation of WOW school across the state
- Assist in fundraising, including the development of collateral materials for outdoor related programs
- Assist with inventory of equipment
- Perform other duties as directed by the Dept. of Conservation Programs leadership

Individuals with majors in Education, Recreation, Biology, Animal Sciences, Wildlife Management, or related fields will get hands-on, real-world experience at a non-profit that has educated and impacted over 1 million people since opening in 2017.
The Right Volunteer:
Skills & Experience Needed:
- Outdoor education skills and experience is a plus
- Excellent organizational skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and other office equipment
- Must learn quickly and be self-motivated
- Must possess good decision-making and problem-solving skills to make sound, independent judgments to identify problems and suggest solutions
- Continuously ensure the safety of all program participants
Availability/Time Commitment:
- Intern must commit to a minimum of 24 Hours per week, with at least one 8-hour shift for a minimum of 10 weeks. Interns must complete a minimum of 240 hours, along with delivering a presentation on an assigned project to the Education and Volunteer Services teams.
- The internship will run from September – December, January – May, or June- August.
