Conservation Education Intern
What we need:
- Individuals who are enthusiastic about conservation, science, and/or the outdoors
- Individuals who are self-starters and able to work professionally in a team setting, as well as in a group setting
- Individuals who are detailed oriented, organized, and great communicators
What you may do:
The Education Interns assist with the implementation and facilitation of learning experiences for the Johnny Morris Foundation, which includes Wonders of Wildlife and other conservation attraction properties. This includes assisting in the development of educational programs, including camps, overnights, birthday parties, outreach, classroom, outdoor skills, community, and guest engagement. This internship will require the completion of an individual project.
Essential functions:
- Assist in special events/programs and develop specific educational materials and activities that relate to the event
- Assist in the presentation of a variety of shows and encounters for guests to experience while they are touring the facility
- Deliver immersive educational programs and experiences for the Johnny Morris Foundation Conservation Attraction Properties
- Conduct age-appropriate interpretive presentations, both on-site and off-site
- Perform other duties as directed by the Dept. of Conservation Programs leadership

Us: Interns assist us by taking on education projects that include developing new procedures and helping to evaluate current processes with new perspectives.
You: Individuals with majors in Education, Recreation, Biology, Animal Sciences, Wildlife Management, or related fields will get hands-on, real-world experience at a non-profit that has educated and impacted over 1 million people since opening in 2017.

Skills & Experience Needed:
- Must possess public speaking and written communication skills
- Have a passion for and base knowledge of science, conservation, and animals
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and other office equipment
- Must learn quickly and be self-motivated
- Must be adaptable to a dynamic schedule
Availability/Time Commitment:
- Intern must commit to a minimum of 24 Hours per week, with at least one 8-hour shift for a minimum of 10 weeks. Interns must complete a minimum of 240 hours, along with delivering a presentation on an assigned project to the Education and Volunteer Services teams.
- The internship will run from September – December, January – May, or June- August.
