Volunteer Opportunities

Bike Valet

Bike Valet turns community events into bikeable destinations by providing turn-key valet bike parking services for event participants who arrive by bike (it’s like coat check for your bike).

We park more than 15,000 bikes a year at 160+ community events for clients as varied as the Midtown Farmer's Market, The Golden 1 Center, Sacramento Republic FC, Sacramento Farm to Fork Festival, Capitol Beer Fest, Aftershock and Golden Sky Festivals, and the Sacramento Rotary Club. Bike Valet is our most visible program.

If you like to:

  • Feel good supporting the environment and active transportation. People love our service and are really supportive.
  • Connect with the community and meet new people.
  • Enjoy the great outdoors! You'll work in a variety of settings (parks, plazas, parking lots, trails) in a variety of weather.

Join us now. No regular time commitment necessary. Sign up for the shift that works for you.

Ride Ready Repair

Help us empower people to rely on their bikes for everyday transportation. This past year, we kept over 2,000 bikes on the road.

As a Ride Ready mechanic you will:

● Inspect, diagnose, and repair bicycles and their components, such as brakes, gears, and wheels.
● Provide advice on bicycle repair and maintenance to the public.
● With the client, identify the problems and issues with the bike and enter this information onto the mechanic work
order form.
● Take inventory of assigned disposables and communicate resupply needs with the Lead Mechanic
● Document service and recommendations on standardized forms
● Communicate in a clear and friendly manner with customers

You’ll work as part of a team of mechanics at events scheduled by SABA and managed by SABA’s Bike Mechanics Program Manager. We provide a shop shirt, baseball cap, and apron. Bike mechanic experience is helpful but optional.

Little or no experience? No problem! Every 2nd Wednesday of the month is new mechanic orientation/training from 6-8 pm. Learn more about becoming a SABA bike mechanic. Soon you may be able to join the SABA Mechanics out in the field, providing valuable repair services to communities throughout Sacramento.

Community Events

Join us as we partner with community organizations to promote cycling in the Sacramento region. Share the fun of blender bikes and bike spin art, help educate the public on bike resources and safety, and meet great people. Some of the community events we participated in in 2024 are:

  • Breathe Bike Festival
  • Cicladova Street Festival
  • Earth Day
  • Chalk t Up!
  • Family Fall Festival
  • Velo Rama
  • Cargo Bike Raves
  • 50 Bikes for 50 Kids
  • and many more!

Check out the opportunities on our calendar.
