Limited Opportunity Only

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the BC SPCA.

At this time, the Richmond Community Animal Centre is only accepting applications for the foster program.

Foster Care Volunteer

If you're 19 or older and interested in making a meaningful impact through fostering, we’d love to invite you to apply.

At this time, we have limited onboarding capacity, and based on the current needs of animals requiring foster care, we can only process applications from individuals who can support in the following ways:

  • You’re able and willing to care for medium to large-sized dogs, or

  • You’re open to fostering animals needing behavior support (such as under-socialized cats or dogs), or

  • You can care for animals with medical needs, including those recovering from surgery, or

  • You can support kittens that require bottle feeding every few hours, or

  • You can support animals that may need specialized fostering (or PPE fostering), or
  • You can support senior animals.

  • You can commit to a minimum of 6 months (6 months available to receive foster requests. Foster placement and length depend on matching results and individual animal needs)

Reminders:

  • If the above criteria don’t align with your current situation, we invite you to check back in the future as opportunities may change.

  • You can also learn more about the BC SPCA Foster Program to help determine if fostering is right for you.

  • Please note that this role requires the completion of mandatory online training.

Animal Fostering - Foster Care Volunteer

* Dog Fosters Needed *

Foster Care volunteers are guardian angels to thousands of BC SPCA animals in need. Whether an animal is injured, abandoned, or underage, foster care saves lives. Many animals needing remediation or a space to stay if the shelter is full benefit from a foster home.

Mission Statement

To protect and enhance the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia.
