Activities include packing food parcels, picking orders for clients, stocking shelves, tidying, and organising work areas, and breaking down boxes. A reasonable level of physical fitness is required as there is some heavy lifting involved (up to 20kgs).

Men's Night Shelter Cooking Volunteer

You will be preparing food for serving, cooking, and general kitchen duties such as dishes and cleaning before, during, and after service; setting up tables for night shelter guests, stacking shelves, topping up supplies, and maintaining cleanliness in the dining room and kitchen during service.
This is suitable for groups of up to 20 - subject to availability and individuals

Volunteers in the Men’s and Women’s night shelters assist the staff by interacting with residents and assisting staff as required with the day-to-day running of the shelter.

The purpose of our Men’s and Women’s Day Programmes is to provide every person who attends with warmth and respect and a chance to grow towards wholeness, by offering basic and advanced individual and group programs and activities in a planned, calm and supportive atmosphere.
The volunteers in the Day Programme will assist staff in delivering the programme's purpose by supporting this safe space and the clients partaking in group activities, well-being exercises, and having chats and a cuppa with the clients.

The Client Education volunteer will assist the Client Education Team Leader in running courses to develop our client’s life and work skills. These may be literacy, numeracy, driver licence course, or computer skills, for example.

The role of the café and catering volunteer is to assist the team in the smooth running of our Thrive Café by providing efficient customer service, food and beverages preparation and care.

Op Shop City
Retail – Op Shops

Work alongside staff and volunteers in a vibrant, ever-changing shop setting. Assist with stock replenishment, keeping the store neat and orderly and cash handling.
At our City Op Shop, as well as providing great customer service, you will be helping clients and those in need by lending a kind ear when required and assisting them with their needs.

Thorpe House
Thorpe House

Thorpe House is a residential withdrawal management service. People come in and stay for up to a week while they withdraw from alcohol or other drugs. There are 10 beds for women and men over the age of 17 years who meet criteria.
There are two aspects of being a Thorpe House volunteer. One is chaperoning the residents on the morning walk to the dairy and the other is preparing any vacated room for the next resident. Full training is provided.

Monday – Friday | 9.30 am – 10.30 am (Morning walk Chaperon role)

Choir Volunteer

Duties
- The role of the choir volunteer is to help with morning tea, and sing with enthusiasm 😊 No singing ability is needed, just a willingness to get involved
- Support clients who may be nervous
- Help clean up at the end
- Some admin duties such as photocopying, designing programs etc
