Big River - Entertainment Provider

Provider volunteers provide mental, social, emotional, and physical stimulation to residents
Group choirs, bands, individual piano players, piano/guitar recitals, performances, dance groups, school entertainment, old time dancing groups, hymn sing, story tellers, 
 
Shifts vary dependent upon group availability:  Monday to Friday, mornings and afternoons. 

Big River - Group Programs Associate

The Recreation Associate assists with various activities at the site. They encourage client's participation in activities. 

Recreation Associate are the extra pair of "helping hands" that add to the trained services of the Long-term care facility staff, working together to enhance the lives of residents

Activities include, but are not limited to:  Reading groups, puzzles, games, bingo, nail painting, going for walks, group painting, crafts, exercise programs, and special events like Christmas parties and teas. Birthday parties, volunteer group outings.

Big River - Recreation Associate

The Recreation Associate assists with various activities at the site. They encourage client's participation in activities. 

Recreation Associate are the extra pair of "helping hands" that add to the trained services of the Long-term care facility staff, working together to enhance the lives of residents

Activities include, but are not limited to:  Reading groups, puzzles, games, bingo, nail painting, going for walks, group painting, crafts, exercise programs, and special events like Christmas parties and teas. Birthday parties, volunteer group outings.

Extra training: Responsive Behavior training and information
.                         Specific training for one on one with residents

Times available:  Monday through Sunday, mornings afternoons and evenings. 

Big River - Group Outings Associate

Recreation Associate are the extra pair of "helping hands" that add to the trained services of the Long-term care facility staff, working together to enhance the lives of residents

Includes:  Off-site supervised escort for outings with recreation staff in and around the community. Shopping, picnics, country drives, restaurant lunches, Visits to Whispering Pine Place.

Days/times available:   Monday to Friday at 2 pm  

Big River - Youth-in-Action Ambassador

Youth Volunteer Program Big River Health Center LTC The youth volunteer would have conversation with the resident, paint finger nails, help with the ipad, play a card game, read a story, assist with coffee, making puzzles, art projects . The volunteer would assist with pushing a wheelchair and taking resident for a walk down the hallways or out side.

Big River Health Center, 220 1st Ave. North Big River SK.

Shifts available  Sunday - Saturday  3:30 pm - 5:00 pm 

Birch Hills - Meals on Wheels Associate

Meals on Wheels Volunteers deliver nutritious meals to clients assessed as needing support with nutrition.

 

Personal accomplishment, develop and enhance communication skills, learn new job skills & obtain a work routine, being involved & giving back to community.

 

Volunteer picks up meals at given time from the outlet and delivers to client in their home. 

 

Delivery times start at 11:00 am   Monday to Friday  

Birch Hills - Entertainment Provider

Entertainment: group choirs, bands, individual piano plays/piano / guitar recitals. 
 
Shifts available:  Monday to Sunday 10:30 - 11:30 am, and 2:30 - 4:00 pm

Activities include, but are not limited to:  Reading groups, puzzles, games, bingo, nail painting, going for walks, group painting, crafts, exercise programs, and special events like Christmas parties and teas. Birthday parties, volunteer group outings, church services, baking.

Days/ Times available:  Monday to Friday, mornings and afternoons 

Shellbrook - Youth-in-Action Ambassador

Youth Volunteers share their time & efforts to support staff with their daily and monthly activity programs. The volunteer supplies that extra pair of “helping hands” that add to the trained services of the long-term care facility staff working together to enhance the lives of residents.

Leask - Entertainment Provider

Provider volunteers provide mental, social, emotional, and physical stimulation to residents
Group choirs, bands, individual piano players, piano/guitar recitals, performances, dance groups, school entertainment, hymn sings, and dancing.   

Leask - Recreation Associate

The Recreation Associate assists with various activities at the site. They encourage client's participation in activities. 

Recreation Associate are the extra pair of "helping hands" that add to the trained services of the Long-term care facility staff, working together to enhance the lives of residents

Activities include, but are not limited to:  Reading groups, puzzles, games, bingo, nail painting, going for walks, group painting, crafts, exercise programs, and special events like Christmas parties and teas. Birthday parties, volunteer group outings, escorting residents to and from activities, curling and setting hair, spiritual care support.  

Days/Times available:  Monday to Friday, mornings, afternoons and evenings. 

Leask - Youth-in-Action Ambassador

Youth in Action Volunteer Program

The youth volunteer tasks may include having conversations with the residents, painting finger nails, playing games, assisting with puzzles assisting with art/craft projects, and playing music The volunteer may assist with pushing a wheelchair and taking a for a walk down.

Shifts are Wednesday and Thurs  3:30 - 5:00 pm   from October  - May 

Canwood - Church Service Associate

Spiritual Care Support, Assist Church services, Bible Studies, Hymn Sing

 

Shifts Available: Tuesdays 2:30 - 3:30 pm

Canwood - Pet Entertainment Provider

Provide positive experience of pet interactions with residents encourages storytelling and conversation about animals
This will provide meaningful and purposeful activities for the volunteer as they get to bring animals they love for our residents to watch, cuddle and enjoy.
 
Volunteers commit to a weekly or bi-weekly shifts. 
 
Pet must be fully vaccinated with proof of certificate from veterinarian-updated annually and given to the recreation coordinator before visiting the home.
 
 
Shifts available : Monday - Friday  2:00 pm or 3:30 pm

Canwood - Youth-in-Action Ambassador

Youth Volunteer after school program - recreation program support, visiting 1:1, Provide meaningful interactions with the residents based on their interests. Help porter residents to programs or meals when needed. Help decorate facility when needed

Runs from September until May during the school year, shift times 3:30 - 4:45 pm
