Community Outreach Internship (Hybrid)
Reports to: Outreach and Education Engagement Manager
Hours: up to 30
Hybrid Work Environment: In-person (worksites will be at community centers throughout Dallas, in addition to our main office in the 75235 zip code area), with opportunities for remote/WFH.
Summary: The Community Outreach Intern will play a vital role in supporting the organization's Hope Street program helping to build relationships with local communities, stakeholders, and partners. The intern will assist in planning and implementing outreach initiatives, engaging with community members, and promoting the organization’s services.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Outreach Support

Provide case management and support services to clients, including assistance with goal-setting, life skills development, and access to community resources.

Facilitate individual and group sessions to support residents' mental health, personal growth, and empowerment.

Help develop and execute outreach strategies to increase awareness of the organization's programs and services.

Support the planning, coordination, and execution of outreach events, including workshops and community presentations.

Assist with the distribution of flyers, brochures, and other promotional materials.

Data Collection and Reporting

Conduct needs assessments to determine what services are needed to properly support to Dallas-area LGBTQIA+ young adults experiencing housing insecurity and homelessness

Gather feedback from community members and partners to evaluate the effectiveness of outreach activities.

Maintain records of outreach efforts, participation data, and engagement metrics.

Assist in preparing reports on outreach outcomes and provide recommendations for improvement.

Other Duties:

Perform administrative tasks as needed to support outreach initiatives.

Attend weekly supervision meetings and contribute to discussions on outreach strategy and community engagement.
Preferred Qualifications
-
Enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in social work, counseling, or a related field.

Strong commitment to social justice and equity, and to creating inclusive and affirming spaces for LGBTQIA+ people.

Experience working with LGBTQIA+ youth or young adults, or with individuals experiencing homelessness, housing insecurity, or other challenges.

Knowledge of trauma-informed care, harm reduction, and evidence-based practices for serving LGBTQIA+ youth and young adults.

Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders and build partnerships in the community.

Ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage multiple tasks and priorities.
