Internships - Administrative Assistant Internship (hybrid)

Reports to: CEO

Hours per Week:  preferably up to 15

Duration: dependent on student schedule. Will be finalized during the interview process.

Compensation: Upon completion of the internships, interns will receive a certificate of completion and a letter of recommendation (upon request). If this internship is for academic credits, please provide us with a university point of contact so that we can ensure you receive your credits. 

 

Summary

The Administrative Intern will complete in-office tasks as delegated by Dallas Hope Charities CEO.

By the end of this internship, we hope that you will walk away with: a better understanding of the inner workings of a nonprofit; an increased ability to network and conduct yourself in a variety of professional settings; connections to community leaders in nonprofit and other industries relevant to our work; increased knowledge of community resources (including how to research and refer them to others); administrative and data entry skills that can be applied to a variety of positions; a firm grasp of issues impacting low income and LGBTQ communities and community led solutions to these issues; and a variety of other skills and experiences that can be carried to future opportunities.

 

Duties include: 

  • Discreetly handling confidential information, letters, and email

  • Creating spreadsheets, presentations, and purchase orders

  • Creating and submitting monthly reports

  • Conducting and/or arranging trainings and meetings

  • Ordering and maintaining office supplies

  • Oversee office equipment maintenance and updates

  • Overseeing and managing IT, Marketing and community events on occasion

  • Receiving and directing emails, visitors, and deliveries

  • Most importantly, supporting and protecting the time of the CEO

  • Will also be asked to complete additional duties as needed/identified

Preferred Qualifications

  • Be innovative, forward thinking, and self-driven

  • Be inclusive, positive and energetic! 

  • Prior experience in a professional office environment is preferred but not required. 

  • Preferred but not required, a strong proficiency in computer software including: Quickbooks, Microsoft Office and Google Suite applications as well as strength in organization.  

  • REQUIRED: Have the utmost support for the LGBTQ+ community, and the individuals that we serve.


Physical Demands: Occasional lifting, standing and sitting for long periods of time
