Los Penasquitos Canyon County Preserve
Trailhead: 12020 Black Mountain Road, San Diego, CA 92129
This expansive urban preserve features over 4,000 acres of natural habitat and more than 12 miles of multi-use trails for hiking, biking, and horseback riding. Highlights include a year-round creek, waterfall, historic adobe ranch house, and diverse wildlife.
- The preserve has two host campsites with full hookups (electricity, water, and sewer).

Rancho Peñasquitos Adobe
12122 Canyonside Park Drive, San Diego, CA 92129
Built in 1823, this historic adobe is one of the oldest private residences in San Diego County. Located within Los Peñasquitos Canyon Preserve, the site offers docent-led tours, educational programs, and a glimpse into early California ranch life.
- The adobe has one host campsite with full hookups (electricity, water, and sewer).
