Activity volunteers at The Whitaker help to deliver exciting experiences that aim to inspire curiosity, creativity and imagination in every child, young person and their families who come through our doors.

Our Meet & Greet volunteers are more than just a friendly face, from greeting every visitor with a warm and friendly smile to answering the phones, they are the heart of The Whitaker and represent the best of all we have to offer.
Our Gallery Invigilators work hard to engage with the public and highlight key aspects about our latest instillations and exhibitions. This is an interactive role which means you will answer questions, support gallery activities, share information about collections, artists and their work.
Our Admin Assistants work ‘behind the scenes’ and help manage our busy operation by supporting The Whitaker team to make sure all customer enquiries are dealt with quickly and professionally.
They are a dedicated small team that play a vital role in ensuring our visitors get the most out of their visit as they leave no stone unturned and strive for excellent customer service, each and every time.
The Maintenance Volunteer team can be relied on to do just about anything! They are proactive, hardworking and committed to getting the job done. From general handiwork to installing new exhibitions, building cabinets and painting walls, our maintenance volunteers will never see the same day twice.
