The Central London operation uses small, green electric vans to whizz around the city, collecting and delivering surplus food. 


Shifts take place throughout the week (Monday - Friday) in the mornings, afternoons and evenings. 

What can I do?

We have several roles available for volunteers. You can stick to one role or do as many as you like!


Drivers are responsible for driving the Felix electric van to various food suppliers to collect high-quality and nutritious food and then delivering this food to charities and schools. This role will give you the opportunity to get out and about in London and see first-hand the impact the charity is having on people’s lives. Drivers need to be:

  • Over 21 years old
  • Have been driving for over a year
  • Have no more than five points on their license.


Along with a driver, co-drivers are responsible for visiting food suppliers to collect high-quality and nutritious food and delivering this food to charities and schools. Co-drivers assist the driver with navigation, completing some admin tasks along the route and helping load and unload the van. 

Green Scheme Walker/Cyclist

Using one of our Felix couriers bags, Green Scheme volunteers collect surplus food from cafe's, supermarkets and other food suppliers and deliver this directly to charities helping the homeless and other vulnerable groups in Central London.

We are looking for volunteers available in the daytime and evening to help cover shifts Monday to Friday. You can volunteer as often or as little as you like. Fill in an application form then book an induction to get started!

Mission Statement

More than eight million people in the UK struggle to afford to eat every day, while our food industry generates 100,000 tonnes of edible food waste each year.

We rescue good food that cannot be sold and would otherwise go to waste.  This is high-quality and nutritious, including a high proportion of fresh fruit and vegetables, baked goods, salads, meat and fish.  We collect or receive food from  suppliers, including supermarkets, wholesalers, farms, restaurants and delis.

We sort and then deliver this food to charities that cook meals and prepare food parcels for vulnerable people and to primary schools to distribute to children and their families.
