Race Day- 6. Other - Lead Car Driver
To help provide safe passage of athletes and road users during the race.
The Lead Vehicle will travel in convoy with a Highway Police car leading.
You should drive at the same speed at the lead cyclist at a safe distance of approximately 100m in front.
The police car will warn other road users of the approaching race and the lead vehicles job is to ensure a safe and clear passage for the lead cyclists.
You also alert aid stations that the leading cyclists are approaching.
This job involves driving time of about five hours over the 180km bike course.
ALL: Please ensure that your vehicle has a full tank of petrol before reporting on race morning
