Race Day- 3. Run - Aid Station- R8 Special Needs, Lakefront
To work as a team with the other volunteers to hand out the numbered bags to athletes as they pass for their second lap.
Location- On Lakefront by transition aid station
The special needs aid station on the run leg is where the athletes pick up their compulsory gear bags if required and any personalised nutrition.
The bags are individually numbered and need to be placed in numerical order so they are easy and quick find (this is especially important on the bike).
A nominated spotter should give advanced warning of approaching athletes and their numbers.
Not all athletes will collect their bags.
You may talk to the competitors and make sure they're OK, giving them your support, the louder the better(!) gives them a huge boost. However, please note that no outside assistance is allowed so helping an athlete outside of your job description eg helping them mend a puncture, will result in their disqualification.
It is important that you do not obstruct the athletes at any time.
