Community Education - ESL Class Registration
Title: ESL Registration Assistant

Reports to: ESL Specialist, Volunteer Services Coordinator
Time Involvement: 3 Month Minimum
Summary:
We are starting a new system for registering refugee clients for ESL classes, and we could use your help. The new process aims to get clients registered within the first 30 days of their arrival so that they can start learning English right away.
Volunteers will help with transporting a client to their ESL registration site, helping them with the paperwork and registration process, and transporting the client home. This opportunity will take approximately 1-3 hours a week (depending on wait times at the registration site). Time slots and locations will vary, but most take place on weekdays in/around the City of Buffalo.
Special Requirements:
- Successful Completion of Sterling Volunteers Background Check, at the cost of $9
- Sexual Harassment Prevention Training
- Record of Covid-19 vaccination
- Statewide Central Registry Search
- Driver's License, Insurance, and Registration Provided
- Age 18+ or youth consent form uploaded
Preferred Qualifications:
- Good interpersonal skills
- Good organizational skills
- Demonstrates compassion for refugees, patience, and the ability to operate from a mindset of cultural humility.
- Multilingual is a plus!

- Staff Exclusion List (SEL) Check Result Must be Clear
