At the Voting Rights Alliance we are dedicated to stopping voter suppression whenever and wherever it is found. Now that the General Election is over we are focused on ensuring that the voters of Georgia are free from suppression and voter intimidation as they go to the polls to Finish the Job. If we are going to be successful, we need your assistance. We have three volunteer opportunities for attorneys to assist.
1. Phone Bank Attorney Monitoring- answering questions which come up from volunteers who are calling Georgia voters and reminding them of the importance of voting in the run-off election. This will occur through the use of Zoom technology and each attorney will work a 2 hour shift. The phone bank is operational 5 days a week from 3pm -5pm and on the weekends from10am-2pm. Each shift will need a minimum of 2 attorneys.
2. Phone Bank Attorney investigations- We need attorneys willing to do follow-up when we are alerted through the phone bank that a voter is experiencing a form of voter intimidation or suppression.
3. Legal Research- This can be done by either an attorney or a law student. The issues to be research may include the legality of enacting restrictions on the right to vote and applying them retroactively; issues in the current litigation involving the illegality of purging 198,000 voters from the registration rolls in Georgia.
