Operations Division - Pack, Prep and Move Volunteer

The Pack, Prep, and Move Volunteer Team works to support an ongoing and evolving project as the Royal BC Museum prepares to move its diverse collections to a new state-of-the-art Collections and Research facility in 2026. The PPM Volunteer Team will be working in a variety of roles, focused on assisting museum staff who are packing the over 8 million collection items housed here.

Background:

Volunteers will be assisting in the Pack, Prep, and Move Team

Objective:

The Pack, Prep, and Move Volunteer Team works to support an ongoing and evolving project as the Royal BC Museum prepares to move its diverse collections to a new state-of-the-art Collections and Research facility in 2026.

Duties:

Volunteers in this area will be working in a variety of roles, focused on assisting museum staff who are packing the over 8 million collection items housed here. 

Qualities:

  • Given the nature of the project, the work undertaken by volunteers is expected to change over time, as the team will step into new roles as needed, in supporting the various staff
  • There will be consistent need for support in material preparation
  • Comfortable standing throughout the shift
  • Using various preparation tools and materials is required
  • Knowledge of and experience in handling collections is considered an asset, but not a requirement

Time Commitment:

The hours for the Pack, Prep, and Move Team weekdays between the hours of 9:00 am and 4:00 pm.

Suitability of assignment is subject to ongoing evaluation
