Do you LOVE Math? Are you interested in mentoring a younger child and being their Math Buddy? 

Teen volunteers (ages 13-18) who love Math and enjoy working with children may apply to be Big Buddies in our Math Buddies program. Each selected big buddy will be trained and paired with a child (grades 1-3) to help them build stronger math skills.  

Each week, Big Buddies will spend 30 minutes preparing, followed by one hour with their Little Buddies working on a different math concept through engaging activities designed to build confidence and enjoyment.

Volunteer spots are limited.  Once your application is received, it will be reviewed by a Youth & Family Services Librarian. Applying for this volunteer opportunity does not guarantee a position. You will be contacted for the next step in the process.

If selected as a Big Buddy, Volunteers must commit to attending all 6 sessions with their little buddy. 

The application deadline is September 7th.

For the volunteers who are selected as Big Buddies, there will be a required volunteer orientation and training session on Wednesday, September 23.

Volunteers will also receive weekly support from library staff and peers. 

If selected as a big buddy, you must be available on these dates.

Cancellation Policy: Please let us know right away if you need to cancel due to an emergency or illness. Due to the difficulty of securing last-minute volunteer help, Douglas County Libraries normally requests a minimum of 4 days notice if you are unable to attend.
