Volunteer Opportunities

Cat Socializer

Socialize kittens and cats by grooming and talking to them, assisting with toy introduction, grooming them and giving them treats.

Canine Handler

Canine Handlers work with the staff teaching dogs basic good manners, and providing activity and socializing for in house shelter dogs. This is done through walking, interactive play, grooming basic training techniques, love and compassion. This requires being 18 years or older. These important interactions allow our dogs enrichment, behavioral skills, and comfort while at shelter. 

Shelter Assistant

Helping prepare the shelter for the public in the morning and assistance throughout the day with laundry, washing dishes, washing litter boxes, gardening etc.

Pet Food Pantry

Helping to organize and distribute pet food to pets in need in Sonoma Valley.  Please note this position requires you to be able to lift multiple large bags of dog kibble.

Reception Desk / Docent

Answering phones, greeting the public, giving tours, taking lost/found reports, and preparing adoption folders.

Offsite Adoption Events

Accompany staff to offsite events.  Serve as a goodwill ambassador for pets.

Fundraising Events

Working at fundraising events including check in/out, set up of tables and chairs, welcoming and presenting Pets Lifeline to the public.  Physical requirements may vary.

Community Cat Trapper

Trapping and returning community cats to humanely control the cat population in Sonoma Valley.

Dog and Puppy Foster

Our foster program falls under our volunteer program. We provide all required equipment and supplies to take care of our fosters, including food. We also continue to provide all medical care for fosters. You may need to bring the animal into the shelter periodically for medical care or adoption meet and greets.
