Are you a parent or carer of a child or young person with complex health needs? Would you like to help shape an important national research programme?

SPROCKET is a five-year research hub, led by UCL and funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR). 

The project aims to improve the lives of children and young people with complex health needs and the people who care for them, particularly during important transitions such as moving between healthcare services, school, and home. GOSH is a key partner site for this project.

We are looking for a parent or carer to join the SPROCKET Study Steering Committee. The committee provides independent oversight and advice to the project, helping to ensure the work stays focused on what matters most to children, young people and families.

In particular, we are looking for a father, or male carer to join the committee. 

 *SPROCKET stands for Systems and Process Redesign and Optimisation at Childhood Key Events and Transitions

What would I be doing?

As a member of the Steering Committee, you will:

• Attend virtual meetings and share your views and experiences.
• Help review the project's progress and plans.
• Provide advice and challenge where needed to ensure the project remains relevant and meaningful for families.
• Help make sure the voices of children, young people and families are heard throughout the programme.

Time commitment

• Six virtual meetings over five years (2026-2030).
• Each meeting will last approximately two hours.
• There may be some short pre-reading before meetings.
• Overall commitment is expected to be around half a day per year.

Payment

You will receive £27.50 per hour for your time, which is approximately £55 per meeting.
