Exploring Skin Tone on MyGOSH- recognising and recording signs of illness

We’d love you to join us to explore MyGOSH can better capture the ways you notice changes in  your child’s skin tone or appearance. Parents and carers often spot early signs of illness long before anyone else, and your everyday language is incredibly valuable in helping clinical teams understand what “normal” looks like for your child.

This session is part of a wider GOSH Quality Improvement (QI) project. The Skin Tone QI project focuses on improving how staff recognise and record changes in a child’s appearance—particularly for children with brown or black skin tones, where signs of deterioration can be harder to detect using traditional, visually based assessments. This work aims to ensure that all children receive equitable and timely care.

In this session, we’ll explore what the project has implemented so far, and we will work together to shape MyGOSH questions that feel natural and meaningful for families. Your ideas will help us create clearer, more inclusive ways for staff to recognise changes—so children can get the right care as quickly as possible.

Who can join this workshop?

We are particularly keen to hear from families with brown or black skin tones, as their voices have been previously underrepresented in this work.

This workshop is for parents and carers.
