🖥️Online - 👩🦲Visible difference focus group

Are you aged 8–16 and have a visible difference?
We want to work with you to help create a new support group for young people with visible differences.
What is a visible difference?
For this project, we are using the definition from Changing Faces.
A visible difference is any physical feature that makes someone look different from others. This might be something you were born with, something that developed over time, or something caused by an illness or injury.
For this project, we are not including medical equipment as a visible difference.
You're welcome to take part if you have:
- Birthmarks
- Scars
- Cleft lip
- Alopecia
- Short stature
- Skin conditions
- Limb differences
- Or any other condition that causes a visible difference
You wouldn’t be able to take part if your visible difference is mainly linked to medical equipment, such as a wheelchair or a tracheostomy.
If you’re not sure whether this applies to you, please email us and we’ll be happy to help.
What is the project about?
We are updating our psychology group called “Being Me”, which is for young people with visible differences — and we want your ideas!
We’d love to hear:
- What you think would be helpful
- What would make a group like this interesting
- What support you’d like from a group like this
We are inviting you to join a one‑hour online focus group with:
- Young people who have been to Being Me before
- Young people who haven’t attended the group before
You’ll be able to share your thoughts, talk about ideas, and give feedback on some suggestions we already have.
Our aim is to create a visible difference group that you feel is useful and supportive.
