ADHB Starship - Family Support Volunteers

These volunteers provide support, orientation and companionship for parents and caregivers, particularly those from other geographical areas and District Health Boards.

By referral, volunteers are available to spend time with families who are experiencing additional stress, such as waiting for their child to have an operation or procedure.

Family Support Volunteers:

  • need to be confident, friendly and outgoing
  • have a helpful and willing approach to people
  • be sensitive and caring
  • have a good general knowledge of the local area and public transport system.
