Current Volunteer & Internship Opportunities

Administrative Volunteering

Make a difference behind the scenes! Admin volunteers use their skills in organization, donor relations, social media, sales, finance, and technology to support our daily mission. From general office support to donation drives, the opportunities to serve are endless!

State clearances may be required based on role. Inquire for details.

Special Events Team

Want to get involved, but don't have time during the work week? Join our Special Events Team and help us make a difference through our community outreach events and fundraisers! This team is also notified of special events or projects benefitting specific populations, such as Ukrainian and Afghan refugees.

Annual events include:

  • Clay Shoot (takes place at Seven Springs, held in June)
  • Jessie Games (family fun carnival for case management clients, held in July)
  • Golf Outing (benefiting our Free Health Care Center, held in September)
  • Hearts to Soles (shoe distribution event in downtown PGH, held in November)
  • Family Christmas Party (for case management clients, held in December)

Group Volunteering

We have regular volunteering opportunities for groups of fewer than 10. For larger groups, or for groups involving minors, please call 412.456.6986 for more information. 

Social Service Programs Internships

Hands-on, direct service internships are available in the following counties: Allegheny, Butler, Greene, Lawrence, and Washington.

Students will have the opportunity to work with clients in programs such as:

  • Pregnancy and parenting support
  • Transitional housing and homelessness
  • Case management and basic needs assistance

Field instructors possess MSW or LCSW certifications. State and federal clearances are required.

Counseling Internships

We offer practicum and internship placements in our Beaver, Washington, and Greene County offices. All supervisors are licensed professional counselors or licensed psychologists. 

Students will have opportunities to experience a variety of therapeutic settings, including:

  • Psychotherapy
  • Psychoeducation
  • Supportive counseling
  • Groups

State and federal clearances are required.

Baby Box Delivery

Booties, Baby, Girl, Clothes, Pink, Tiny, Nursery 

Provide needy moms with diapers, formula, baby clothes and other essentials through no-contact drop-offs! Volunteers pick up items from our main office in downtown Pittsburgh during business hours and make deliveries to client homes. All addresses are within 15 miles of our office at 212 Ninth Street. 

Baby Box Packing

Description: Volunteers will be asked to help Catholic Charities staff members who lead our Pregnancy and Parenting Program, which supports mothers and fathers with the physical and financial challenges of pregnancy through the first two years of infancy through counseling and access to resources. 

Volunteer groups will help pack 15-30 boxes of baby supplies each week that will make its way to client families enrolled in the program. Boxes are curated to fit the needs of the client and include items such as diapers and baby clothes (according to size), wipes, hygiene items, books, toys, and even larger items such as strollers and pack n plays on occasion.



2-4 hours



Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday weekly – anytime between 8:30am-4:30pm
