Louis A. Stelzer County Park - Court-Mandated Community Service

Thank you for your interest in completing your court-mandated community service hours with the County of San Diego Department of Parks and Recreation. We are here to assist individuals who need to fulfill community service requirements related to court mandates, probation, or other justice-involved programs.

The Department of Parks and Recreation accepts a limited number of volunteers required by the court to complete community service hours. All volunteers are required to perform their assigned service at one of our parks or facilities.

To qualify for completing community service with us, you must:

  • Be 18 years of age or older.
  • Have no history of, nor any charges or convictions related to:
    • Violent or threatening offenses
    • Sexual offenses
    • Offenses involving children
    • Pyromania
    • Theft or burglary

We appreciate your cooperation and look forward to supporting you in fulfilling your community service hours.

Example of assigned tasks: As part of your court-ordered community service, you’ll be helping to keep our parks beautiful and accessible. Tasks can vary but typically include activities like planting trees, restoring natural habitats, removing invasive plant species, general landscaping, park cleanup, and basic park maintenance. You may also assist with spreading mulch, light janitorial work, and painting fences or signs. Each task is designed to make a meaningful difference in our local parks, and we’ll provide any training and tools needed.
