Sammamish Library - Volunteer Program Assistants (Ages 13+) - Apply Anytime

General Volunteer Teen Program Assistants (Ages 13+): 

  • Do you want to help the library run programs or workshops? Become a program assistant! Responsibilities commonly include: event set-up and breakdown, assisting with crowd management, and helping participants during events. Hours are flexible according to your availability and the library’s calendar of programming.

Specific Volunteer Teen Program Assistant Opportunities Include:

STEM Saturdays Assistants (Ages 13+):

  • Responsibilities: Set-up/breakdown, greeting participants, handing out materials, assisting participants with STEM projects.
  • When: 2 Saturdays per month from 1:30pm - 4:30pm, Sept-Nov and Jan-April.

Youth Chess Volunteers (Ages 13+)

  • Responsibilities: Set-up/breakdown, greeting participants, and, most importantly, PLAY CHESS (especially when another participant is looking for a partner)! Some chess knowledge required.
  • When: 2nd and 4th Tuesdays from 5:30pm - 8pm.

Dungeons and Dragons DMs and Volunteers (Ages 14+):

  • Responsibilities: Do you love to play a TTRPG? Do you want to teach others or lead a session? Come join us! Experience with any TTRPG preferred to lead sessions or teach beginning players.
  • When: 3rd Friday of every month from 3:30pm - 5:30pm

 

How Do You Sign Up?

  • Email Teen Librarian Jess at jldewitz@kcls.org to express your interest in becoming a Volunteer Program Assistant.
  • If you have a specific program in mind that you want to volunteer to assist, mention that in your email. 
  • You will need to meet with Librarian Jess and complete KCLS Volunteer onboarding and related training.
