Welcome to the Bayside Health (The Alfred + Caulfield Hospitals) Volunteer Program!
Thank you for your interest in joining our volunteer team! Volunteers are an essential part of our organisation, and we’re excited to have you consider making a difference with us.
Important Information Before You Apply
- Waitlist Notice: We currently have a waitlist, so there may be a delay in getting back to you. Thank you for your patience!
- Age Requirement: Applications are open to individuals aged 18 years and above.
- Volunteer Requirements: please keep in mind that we will require you to
- Provide two references in the application (excluding family members)
- Have a recent flu vaccination
- Attend a face-to-face interview with our volunteer coordinator to discuss your interests and potential opportunities
- Complete a police check (we’ll guide you through the process)
- Apply for a Working with Children's Check (free for volunteers)
- Attend a mask fit test (at the hospital)
- Join a half-day orientation session to learn about the hospital and volunteer program
- Commit to regular shifts for 12 months (holidays are fine!)

The Alfred
- 55 Commercial Road, South Yarra, Melbourne VIC 3004
- Roles include concierge duties, visiting patients for companionship, collecting feedback to improve services, and more.
Caulfield Hospital
- 260 Kooyong Road, Melbourne VIC 3162
- Including the roles at The Alfred, Caulfield volunteers additionally assist with rehabilitation programs in the gym and pool, and help transport patients to and from appointments.
Sandringham Hospital
- 193 Bluff Road, Melbourne VIC 3191
