Service Learning/College Volunteer
Thank you so much for your interest in volunteering with Communities In Schools of North Texas! Our Volunteer Department is committed to helping you have the best service learning experience possible while you work with our students.
We offer the opportunity to work with k-12 public students, either one-on-one, in small groups, or in a classroom setting, on academics and, in our after school programs, on enrichment and SEL. In practice this can be assisting students with homework, helping to run an art or sports club, or providing general classroom management support.
In order to ensure that you have enough time to complete your service without needing to rush at the end of the semester, we do have certain due dates for completing our 3 step volunteer onboarding process. These dates, along with a description of our onboarding process, and a walkthrough video are below.
If you do not meet these dates, you may still receive a placement, so please do not let this stop you from applying!
Our 3 step Volunteer Onboarding Process:
- Complete an online application and create a MyImpact account. This is done at the same time by clicking the Complete an Application link to the right and filling out our Service Learning Volunteer Application.
- View our New Volunteer Orientation through your MyImpact account and complete the questions accompanying each module. There are 6 modules in total that can be accessed by logging into your MyImpact account and clicking on Training in the My Profile dropdown menu.
- Submit a criminal background check through Sterling Volunteers. After you finished steps one and two, we will have TheAdvocates@SterlingVolunteers.com send you an email invitation to start your background check within two business days.
If you have any questions or need help at any point, please contact our Volunteer Department by email at volunteer@cisnt.org.
