Life Enrichment - One To One Visitor

Purpose:

  • To provide personal contact for those residents in need of friends and individualized attention.

Benefits to Resident/Presbyterian Homes.

  • Visitor will establish ongoing relationship with resident.

Responsibilities:

  • Visit assigned, referred residents.
  • Visits may include:
    • General conversation and listening on a variety of subjects i.e. family, travel, former hobbies, and interests.
    • Reading
    • Prayer
    • Letter writing
    • Making phone calls
    • Walks

Qualifications/Skills/Requirements:

  • Caring, cheerful attitude
  • Ability to converse with a variety of personalities in an appropriate manner.
  • May need strength and endurance to propel wheelchairs.
  • Ability to provide positive customer service.

Time Commitment/Hours:

  • If possible, the volunteer should visit weekly at the same day and time.
  • Based on resident’s needs and volunteer’s availability.

Reports to:

  • Life Enrichment Staff
  • Volunteer Director

Training and/or Support Provided.

  • General volunteer orientation
  • Discussion of individual resident needs with appropriate staff.
