Life Enrichment - Library Assistant
Purpose:
To insure a smooth process for “special requests” of material from the Hennepin County Library (HCL) system to and from our LMS residents.
Benefits to Resident/Presbyterian Homes:
To enhance the lives of LMS residents by enabling them to enjoy materials offered from the Hennepin County Library system meeting their literary needs.
Responsibilities:
- Communicates with the Library Special Request Coordinator on a weekly basis for status of resident library book requests/returns.
- Communicates with residents who have placed HCL special requests to confirm their request and also when material(s) may be delivered to them.
- Delivers monthly HCL Material Reminder Notices to LMS residents when their material(s) are coming due.
- Collaborate with Library Special Request Coordinator and/or Library Courier to Collect HCL materials from residents when needed and return material(s) to the Mound-Westonka Hennepin County Library.
- Serves as back-up for Courier duties as needed.
- Picks up special request material(s) from HCL in Mound
- Delivers HCL material(s) and delivers to residents.
- Work with library committee members in promoting campus library and its services through educational events.
Qualifications/Skills/Requirements:
- Good communication skills
- Familiarity with computers/email. Communication via email is preferable but not necessary.
- Volunteers need to be ambulatory enough to deliver notices and materials to residents
- May require own transportation in order to fill in for courier by going to Mound-Westonka Library.
Time Commitment/Hours:
- Flexible but timely amounts of time (30 minutes or less per week) to perform above duties at various times.
- Attend one hour monthly meetings.

Activity and Support Provided:
General Volunteer Orientation.
Training on library procedures provided by Library Manager.
