UMS depends on its volunteers to aid in its mission to "inspire individuals and enrich communities by connecting audiences and artists in uncommon and engaging experiences".
As a volunteer Usher, you will aid us in achieving this mission by contributing to the following goals:
Providing a warm and welcoming experience for all audience members.
Providing audiences with the guidance they need to find their seats in a timely manner.
Providing or connecting audience members with the answers to venue related questions which will empower them to be confident in their ability to navigate the venue the next time they attend.
Delicately informing and, if needed, reiterating to our audience members the rules and regulations that allow for each audience member to enjoy performances free of distractions and interruptions.
Providing services that create a barrier-free experience for any audience member needing extra assistance.
Make ushering a fulfilling experience by helping to create a supportive environment for the entire usher corps and abiding by the guidelines in this handbook.
Thus, your courteous attitude, professional appearance, helpfulness, flexibility, and dedication are extremely important assets to us.
