Participant Sidewalker - Mounted Horsemanship
The sidewalker’s primary job is to walk next to a horse and rider to ensure the safety of the participant. Sidewalkers are also very important in helping riders to fully participate in their classes. Some participants need two sidewalkers, while others require only one. The instructor will inform you of the needs of the participants you will be assisting. A sidewalker must always be aware of the participant and what that person is doing; the safety of the participant depends on it. Sidewalkers have the capacity to either enhance or detract from the lesson. As a new volunteer, you will typically be assigned to be a sidewalker.
