A range of opportunities are available at the Briars for those passionate about local history, wildlife and agriculture. Volunteer tour guides take our visitors through the Heritage Homestead while our Conservation Volunteers assist with maintenance of the site including track works, fence maintenance and weed management. Heritage Garden Volunteers grow heritage seeds in the Homestead garden, for sale to visitors. Nursery volunteers work on propagation, seed cleaning and sorting, planting, potting, weeding and the preparation of materials for nursery staff.

- The Briars Homestead
There are three volunteer roles available, including Gardening Volunteers (including the Heritage Seed Garden), Homestead Guides and Historic Collections Cleaners.
- The Briars Nursery
There are a variety of tasks available for Nursery volunteers including propagation, seed cleaning and sorting, planting, potting, weeding and the preparation of materials for nursery staff. - Conservation Volunteers
Volunteers assist with maintenance of the site including track works, fence maintenance and weed management.
All Shire volunteers will be required to complete:
- Working with Children’s Check (no fee for a volunteer check)
- Police Check Applicants (paid for by MPS)
- eLearn modules
Volunteers must be willing to access various technological platforms such as My Impact, our Volunteer Management Platform.
