Events

We like to have fun at the Abilene Zoo.  Our special events are fundraising events to keep the zoo operating.  Applications for events are accepted year-round.

Support the zoo during special events, fundraisers, and community outreach programs. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to a great cause and be part of a memorable experience.  As an event volunteer, you play a crucial role in ensuring the success of the event.  Our events take place outdoors, so volunteers will need to be able to work in variable inclement weather conditions.  Our online event volunteer sign-up is sent via email once you are on our list.

The Mission of the Abilene Zoo

The Abilene Zoo is a place of learning and adventure, where families make memories, share the joy of discovery, and become inspired to preserve wildlife.

Volunteers are very important to the zoo.

The main functions of the zoo are conservation and education.  We try to plant little seeds of knowledge to hopefully influence responsible stewardship in the future.

We are looking for committed individuals who are prepared to serve for at least 6 months, and who are willing to give a minimum of 6-8 hours per month.

We look forward to having you as one of our volunteers!
